What does it really mean to show up?

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying of “I’m here physically but not mentally.” It’s a disconnection within the body when you are experiencing something like this.

And as a creative or entrepreneur you are likely going to experience this disconnection.

It will mess with the way you show up in your business if you let it and ultimately effecting your bank account.

But if you realize that the energy can be transformed and reconnected then you are able to overcome whatever causes that disconnection in the first place.

Because let’s face it there are always so many unpredictable things that pop up in life that are completely out of your control.

So don’t let those things have control over you.

Continue to show up, BE the person who you want to be today. 
Then watch the energy around you transform and the ripple effect of that transformation will change your life forever.

⁣As I mentioned yesterday, that’s exactly how my past week has been! Lots of wonderful things in the works…but everything pales in importance for the moment as we face, and deal with, our family crisis. ⁣

⁣I know I’ve spoken a lot about letting go, just breathing, and being mindfully present. And that’s all very important to do…⁣
⁣⁣
⁣However, sometimes we just need some kind of simple, easy, quick and inspiring little reminder to get back on track and stay focused on the positive outcomes we desire, no matter how bad or sad things look in this present moment. ❣️Right???❣️ ⁣

⁣Well, on my daily walk I kept getting this message: Breathe, Believe, Receive! And then, lo and behold, when I sat back down at my computer after my walk, I was literally directed to a specific file. And there were those very words: Breathe…Believe….Receive!⁣

⁣So here it is for you…just click on this little video…and take some time out to take this simple little message into your consciousness. And remember to do your deep breathing while taking in this message. ⁣

And what a vital connection— "Are you saying 'yes' when you mean 'no?' Our pelvic floor will become tense if we are lacking to vocalize our needs, thoughts, personal expression, etc.

By speaking our truth, humming, singing, groaning and deeply breathing, we will automatically incorporate the pelvis to release its tension. By practicing hip circles, sitting with proper posture and exercising, we will automatically incorporate the jaw to release its tension."

​DEEP BREATHING EXERCISES TO BOOST FOCUS AND ENERGY 
Taking a few moments each day to practice deep breathing exercises can decrease stress, relax your mind, body and can help you sleep better. While there are numerous benefits, here are some important ones that will motivate you to deep breath. 
1. Natural painkiller
When you deep breath, the body raises your levels of endogenous endorphins - the body’s natural painkillers. This helps not only improve your well-being but also act on pain centers of the brain – which helps diminish the perception of unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury. 
2. Improves blood flow
Carbon dioxide is a natural toxic waste that comes out from our body only through breathing, thus deep breathing helps to release pent up toxins. According to research, deep breathing can release as many as 70 per cent of toxins in your body thus improving blood flow and detoxifying the body. 
3. Improves organ function
Deep breathing affects abdominal organs. When you practice deep breathing, your diaphragm moves up and down which massages the liver, small intestines, pancreas and stomach, in addition to the heart. This increases circulation to these areas, so they function better. 
4. Tones abdominal muscles
Deep breathing tones and strengthens the abdominal muscles. Although it won’t give you a nice ‘six pack’, your muscles however will function better resulting in a strong abdominal musculature. 
5. Improves posture

Day 32 completed!! I was able to get a hole through the ice jam in our river. Although it looks very different this is very near our old hole. You can see how high the stacks of ice are behind me.

Today was a special day. @melissaeearle my wife came with me. She is usually the one behind one of the cameras or holding the towels and making sure everything goes well. Windchill today was a balmy -39C.

Myofascial release is a technique to manipulate our fascia by giving pressure on certain parts in our body. The aim is to give signal to our brain that there is no need to tense and that our body can move in different way than it normally does. 
The example of the picture is downward facing dog pose where usually we find it difficult to press our heels into the ground. After the myofascial release technique, the heels are closer to the ground than before applying the technique.

When we are building new neural pathways in the brain, small consistent effort helps create the momentum and strengthen the new neural network. Practice. Practice. Practice. After trying numerous things I finally had a consult with a Gastroenterologist one day to potentially have some procedure because my gut was always bloated, constipated, you name it

! And I was in the fitness industry so it FKIN SUCKED!!!) .
During the consult with the surgeon, we talked about my diet, exercise, lifestyle (I was exercising a lot and eating way cleaner than I do now) but my gut was a mess, so I was excited to finally get SOME REAL solutions

But instead at the end of the consult he said "Asma you need to change your lifestyle."

I was like WTF you're kidding me
.
This was not new advice to me - I went to acupuncture, tried all the supps, but in reality, needed to nourish my own body

Through lots of trial and error I discovered years later - the answer was in my body

Also my brain was very rational so I needed the science to back it up 🤓

No shortage of that, even then. It's not new age. The only thing new age is all these diets

I did 'em all so I know lol .
Years later I began to actually notice the difference on days where I was conscious of my breathing compared to days I wasn't. It impacted my gut, my everything so positively. .

You know that feeling when it feels like you are constantly falling behind & when you get so overwhelmed so you just pull away from everything like nope, no, uh-uh, not gunna happen, I’m out! ⁣

That has been my week. 🤯⁣

Kinda like in arguments how i tend to just not want to speak. If I just ignore it maybe it will go away. Just like the billion different things swirling around in my brain like little baby squirrels. And the to-do list that NEVER STOPS GROWING. And trying to juggle so many different things that I feel like I’m failing people.⁣
⁣
I still haven’t figured out how to add more hours to a day, so I need to take action to get myself through this. After all, I am the one kinda in control of my life/mood & all. 😏⁣
⁣
This is what I’m doing to help get myself through this stressful feeling of overwhelm:⁣
⁣
1. Writing a list starting with my top 3 priorities. The first one on the list is the one that will take the least amount of time (out of the 3 priorities) so when I get to cross something off it pumps me up and gives me a little feeling of relief. Then listing out every other little thing that is taking up space in my brain, so I can get it OUT of my brain. ⁣
⁣
2. This one I really struggle with. Asking for help. Taking something off my plate that Taylor is glad to help me with so I can sit down, focus, & get a few things accomplished!⁣
⁣
3. Staying consistent with my workouts and nutrition. I feel my absolute best first thing in the morning after my workouts & do you realize how much nutrition affects your mood, energy levels, & mental clarity!?⁣

4. Take deep breaths. It will all be okay.⁣
⁣
5. Wine. 😉⁣
⁣

You’ve probably already tried counting sheep backwards and forwards, so your next step may be to add a gentle resting stretch used in Pilates/Yoga.

The Child’s Pose stretches the hips, thighs, and ankles. It also passively stretches the back torso and gently relaxes the muscles of your front body. This pose reduces stress, stimulates melatonin, and calms the mind especially when coupled with deep breathing exercises.

Before you climb into bed... From all fours, bring your big toes together so they’re touching, widen your knees to at least hip width, and then sit back on your heels.

As you exhale, lay your torso down between your thighs. If it’s more comfortable, you can widen your feet or lay a long, narrow cushion down between your legs to support your torso.

When you are laying fully in Child’s Pose, you can have your arms out in front of you, stretching, but as a follow-up to Puppy Pose, you can lay your hands alongside your torso, palms up.

Stay here for at least 10 breaths. When you rise from it, do so as you inhale and use your hands to support you.

I know it’s scary. I know you can’t breath and that you are trembling. That is your nervous system trying to protect you from danger. If there is no real threat, thank your body for trying to protect you. Then take a deep breath & tell your body, mind and soul that you got this. That you have everything you need to make it happen. And that you are ready to show the world all the gloriousness THAT IS YOU!
